ADVANCED FREEDIVER
The advanced freediver course is taught over three days and goes into the theory of Freediving in more depth, which will allow you to understand the physiology and techniques behind diving deeper. The course will help you improve your Freediving performance whilst advancing your safety and rescue skills. Students are introduced to freediving with a lanyard, CO2-based training, and ways to incorporate these into a dive fitness regime. This course challenges aspects of your mental strength as we push boundaries to prepare you for deeper diving.
Candidates for this course must have completed an AIDA 2* or CMAS 1* course or a recognised equivalent and have maintained freediving fitness, allowing progression to this advanced course.
AIDA 3 / CMAS 2* course consists of:
-
three theory sessions
-
breathing and relaxation sessions
-
two confined water sessions
-
four open water sessions
-
one exam to pass at the end
What you will learn:
-
You will learn what happens to the body (and lungs) when the surrounding pressure becomes greater, and how the body adapts to this (mammalian dive reflex).
-
You will learn more about equalization techniques and how to perform or master the Frenzel technique.
-
The confined water sessions will allow you to practice O2 and CO2 tables, learn training concepts for static and how to prepare a maximum attempt.
-
We will refine your swimming and diving techniques, improve your streamlining position, and perform Frenzel equalisation efficiently while freediving.
-
You will learn and practice free-falling and how to be very relaxed when performing a freedive at depth.
-
More rescue scenarios at depth and on the surface will be practised.
To successfully complete the AIDA 3 freediver course: You will have to perform a 2-minute 45-second breath-hold, swim 55m in Dynamic with fins and freedive to 24 meters in the Constant Weight discipline. At the end of the course, you will be able to freedive comfortably with an experienced buddy to depths of 24/30 meters.
To successfully complete the CMAS 2* freediver course: You will have to perform a 2-minute 30 second breath-hold, swim 50m in Dynamic with fins and freedive to 20 meters in the Constant Weight discipline. At the end of the course, you will be able to freedive comfortably with an experienced buddy to depths of 20-25 meters.
